Break-up

For those who have not heard yet...Aaron and Kim broke off their engagement. Its sad for Aaron. But he seems to be ok. I know that it was hard for him at Danny's wedding and reception, but he is strong and will make it through it. Some may ask why? Well who really knows, I know that our faith has some to do with it. And that I want our children to remain active and faithful to what they know to be true. When you date someone outside your faith then its a good chance you will marry someone outside your faith. Kim is a good person. I hope they both continue to do good. Hope they both find someone they will love forever.

Taking Pictures

Yesterday we took pictures of Haylee and she is quite the ham. She usually smiles alll the time but on occasion she decides to be a little difficult. The did not want to sit on Rachels back. Didn't want any of that. We went to the Dallas Temple for Danny and Melissa's wedding and the Nativity was set up there. Rachel took the opportunity to show her. Her eyes lite up when seh told me about Baby Jesus. It is always good to have a picture of your family in front of the temple. I love my family we are lucky to have them.

Vacation

I've been on vacation this last week, and now I must go back this morning. Now working in a travel related industry Weather plays a big part. All last week it was warm and nice outside. On Sunday the temp drops it drizzles and is quite cold. I'm OK with the cold. But please no other wet stuff. I don't want to stay late today and if it get really nasty we all get to. I love the wintry type weather but not when it effects grumpy travelers. We had a great weekend, our dinner group was fun. Its always great to enjoy others company, and great food. Its fun to get to know others that we might not always get the chance to. Thanks to great people who put it all together. I know it takes alot. Thanks again.

Thanksgiving

This year Thanksgiving was nice. A few glitches along the way.
My sister was back in the hospital again. She has had a rough year. She had her leg amputated in the summer and has not recovered from it. For those who know her is is rather large, not as large as she has been but is still large. She is not able to sit up on her own really because she has not in months. So back to thanksgiving. My mom has come for several years, but this year she did not. Partly due to the fact of sibling and nieces. But it turned out really nice, (dinner anyway) I worked that morning from 430a-930a so the family started dinner. Rick, Rachel, and Brittany cooked. When I came home I made the fruit salad and potato salad. Kim brought brownies which were great. After dinner the guys watched the football game and so did Kim. Rachel went to take a nap and after Brittany rested she came in and we did crafts, then in a bit Rachel and Kim came in as well.
Dinner was great, Brittany made the dressing for the first time ever. She did a great job.

Where has a month gone?

Blogging.....hummm I'm not very good at it. The last month has been pretty busy at the Petty House. Several new calling, B&B came for a visit. Gary (Rick's brother and his family) came for a visit.
To start off with...My new calling I have been given the opportunity to work with the Stake Young Women's Presidency, as the 1st counselor. Its exciting, but why me.... Not so sure.
But I'll do my best. Then a couple of weeks later. Rick got the biggest surprise of his life. Something he has said over and over he did not want to do. Yep....He is now the new Bishop. Still getting used to him being called Bishop Petty. But he'll do great.
When we went to get our recommends redone (we lost our others on June 1 after Brett & Brittany's wedding) who knows...there was so much going on here. President Woodruff said I think I have something here for you and he was looking through his papers... I thought (humm what would he have for me)....ha ha for my thinking that. Then I was called.
One day President Woodruff came to our building and since the recommends has changed in those short 2 weeks( I think) I thought great here he is and I asked him if he could sign my recommend. and he said sure... and then asked me if Rick was still there and I told him he was just leaving with Rachel(best daughter) I and went and got him. He has been on the High Counsel and then he was called to be the new Bishop...surprise surprise..... We have the best family. Called Brett and Brittany to let them know, of course they came home...told Aaron and Kim, so they could be there. Called Rick's brother Gary in Ft Collins Co.... he is a member..How grateful we are for them. Gary and Barbara and Mary and Liz(just 2 of their kids) came down... what a great weekend. We went to the fair an had lots of fun. So our lives have been busy. Even with the just the normal every day activities. Work, laundry. cooking(yuck) not my favorite. Cleaning. Everyday run of the mill things that have to be done.

We have been very blessed. Everyone in the ward has been great. We had a great Bishop.. we are all very sad to not have Bishop Shuldberg as our Bishop. He has been truly amazing for our family. I imagine for other as well. But members in the ward seem to be taking this fine. I know Rick will do his best. He is a great guy and I love him dearly. I have been very blessed to have him as my husband.

Zoo Time

On Saturday Rachel suggested we go to the Zoo, since the weather was suppose to be cooler....Well, it wasn't cooler, but we had a great time. Rachel called Uncle A and Kimmie to go with us. Uncle A and Kimmie were going to meet at the University Park shopping center so would not have to pay for 2 parking spots. Well Miss Haylee decided that she wanted to first throw a lovely tantrum...She is becoming very good at it. So we called Uncle A and let him know that we were not coming... He and Kimmie were already there. After about 10 minutes of her tantrum, she calmed down and we decided to go to the Zoo. Called Uncle A and Kimmie again (they must think we are nuts) to tell them we were on our way, they had left but would meet us anyway. Miss Haylee's favorite animals are Monkeys and ribbits(frogs). Of course the first exhibits the monkeys (gorillas)but Miss Haylee calls them all monkeys. Uncle A is the best he would hold and carry Haylee even though it is very hot. Poor guy he was sweating...But he loves her, he is a great Uncle. She is so lucky. I know that he would do anything and everything for her. We enjoyed the Zoo, it is great to have spent the day together. Papa was at home making shelves for the pantry. What a great husband I have.

Nashville

Rick is at a conference in Nashville. I came a few days late. But I made it. We are staying at the Gaylord Opryland, and it is the largest hotel I have ever been at. When I checked in they actually give you a map with directions on it. Computers are amazing, type in the room number and click there are the directions. Of course the map is huge and then they circle where you are so you can find the beginning. Quite amazing. The gardens here are beautiful, its all inside so walking around looking at flowers and trees and waterfalls is very beautiful. The Grand Ole Opry house is just around the corner. Things only happen there on Tue, Fri, and Sat. To bad we won't be here it would be fun.

First Time to Try

As I read others blogs, I think......Can't do that not creative enough....not good at writing... the usual problems. But I decided that I should at least try.
There is always a first time for everything. So here goes my blog. I have been thinking about making curtains for my kitchen windows..So today I bought the rest of the fabric and made them.. They turned out good.. changes the colors scheme of the kitchen which is nice. NOW I'm trying to put up the fall decorations. Thats another story. Its much easier to do when others are awake so that they can help han you thngs. Getting up and down the step stool makes me realize I'm getting old. (Bummer)
